Reset the kitchen without turning Sunday into work
A Sunday reset should make Monday easier, not steal the soft part of the weekend. The goal is not to prep every meal or label every shelf. The goal is to remove a few points of friction before the week starts.
Mara keeps this routine small: clear the sink, check the staples, prep one useful thing, and stop before the reset becomes another chore.
The Routine
Five steps for a lighter Monday
- Clear the sink, load or wash dishes, and set out a clean towel.
- Check staples without making a full inventory: eggs, bread, rice, pasta, beans, greens, and fruit.
- Wash one herb, green, or crunchy vegetable so it is easy to use later.
- Make one sauce, dressing, or topping that can help two meals.
- Set up one easy Monday start, like oats, coffee, lunch containers, or a breakfast plate.
Prep One Thing
Choose the helper, not the whole menu
Lemon Yogurt Sauce
Yogurt, lemon, salt, pepper, and herbs. Use on bowls, potatoes, eggs, or roasted vegetables.
Rice Or Grain
Cook one plain base. Later it can become a bowl, fried rice, soup filler, or quick lunch.
Washed Greens
Dry them well and store with a towel. Greens get used faster when they are already clean.
Crunchy Topping
Toast breadcrumbs, seeds, or nuts. A small jar makes leftovers feel finished.
Stopping Point
Leave the kitchen easier than you found it
The best reset ends while you still feel calm. If you start pulling apart cabinets, the routine has become a project. Save that for another day.
